Few Survival Kits Fit Every Situation
Our design philosophy is "if its not on you, you won't have it when you need it". With that approach we design stock kits to fit the cargo and utility pockets of most tactical / military grade uniforms. Many customers have started the process believing they needed a separate backpack or MOLLE pouch survival kit to equip their personnel only to discover some basic essentials, along with skill and attitude, would accomplish the task. However we do understand your needs may be different from what our kits provide. If one of our stock designs fail to fit your needs please contact us for a quote on your idea or a free design consultation.
Design Your Own Idea
Provide us with a list of gear (it helps us if you can provide manufacturer and model number of specific items desired) and/or capabilities you need in a kit. With our wholesale capability we can, in most cases, design and assemble a kit at a better price that you could do yourself buying individual items from retail sources. We will contact you in we feel the kit is over/under packed or has potential problem areas before we reach an actual purchase agreement.
Let SKS LLC Provide a Custom Design
In a custom design cycle we assist you in defining your requirements and ultimately a survival kit solution that best fits your needs. A design cycle requires more than a simple request to build a bigger kit. We like to explore why our design will not work and of course what you need. Some of the topics we like to discuss before we offer a solution are:
What is the primary climate the kit will be used in? Desert, arctic, mountain, or jungle focused kits will each have a few unique items. If you are outfitting to survive a terrorist attack or building collapse you may only need a few signaling and exit tools. Are you outfitting for a urban situation with a transient threat? Understanding the climatic need drives the selection of components, size and packing methodology to meet your requirement.
What is the expected duration of the survival event? Are you outfitting for 1 hour, 1 day, 5 days, or the end of civilization? Our base models are designed to provide signaling and water purification ability for up to 5 days. You'll note we do not pack fish hooks or snare wire, both staples in other designs, as we pack for short duration events where a dedicated recovery force is looking for you. Longer duration events, possibly without a dedicated rescue / recovery force on tap, may require more food related items to sustain you until help arrives.
What is the skill level of the end-user? Are your kits destined for SERE school graduates, in house training programs or for untrained personnel? Should the components be simple enough for intuitive use? Do you need detailed instructions in the kit? Do you need a training seminar for your group covering how to use the kits?
Are there any special equipment or design requirements? Do you need extra room for user added items? Should the end-user be able to access contents and customize the kit or must it be tamper evident to prevent pilferage? Do you need additional stock for training? Must it be TSA friendly? Must the kit be unobtrusive?
How do you anticipate or desire the kit to be carried? While we hate to have an operator choose between mission gear (beans/bullets/batteries) we do understand at times our pocket carried designs may not be enough for your situation. We maintain a hearty wholesale relationship with a variety of pouch / pack manufactures to custom design kits for MOLLE systems and stand alone packs beyond the pocket.
Is shelf-life a concern? Most batteries, chemical light sticks, and water purification tablets have an expiration date. Time and temperature extremes during storage can and will effect that date. We purchase all our items to maximize usable life of kits. Are you ready to replace water purification tablets every 5 years? Do you need to contract for an annual maintenance cycle?
